Feline - Thorax - Pericardial Effusion 2

Name: Mr G

Signalment: 9 year old MN DSH

Radiologist's Description: This is a longitudinal image of the heart made during cardiac tamponade. A moderate to large volume of anechoic fluid is also visible within the pericardial sac. The epicardial surface of the junction between the right ventricle and atrium is irregular and the underlying myocardium is heterogeneous (arrow). Conclusions: There is a strong suspicion of a cardiac mass involving the right heart with associated pericardial effusion resulting in cardiac tamponade. Primary consideration is given to hemangiosarcoma or other neoplastic process. Courtesy Dr. Johanna Frank NJ Mobile Associates

Definitive Diagnosis: USG Pericardiocentesis: Modified transudate. USG FNA of spleen and liver: Mast cell neoplasia.
